GESTURES - my first sculpture exhibit was a one-man-show at West Texas A&M University - this exhibit consisted of the large outdoor sculpture plus five gallery pieces. This page illustrates the design and development process of the work.

Gestures, as movements are a universally recognized means of personal expression and communication.

These shapes chosen to define the direction of movement of the pieces are based on the circle with consideration given to the “universality of form” theory.

This theory suggest that specific shapes and forms transcend time and space.

Since the beginning of time man has recognized and utilized the circular shape.

The GESTURES works therefore are both universal and timeless in expression and form.

Wood was chosen for the sculptural medium because of its inherent warmth and beauty. Through the metamorphic process the wood is resurrected to live again as art.
